The Rebel Crowd Moves to Jodhpur, and the Blue City Is Being Asked to Speak
Rajasthan has always had words for the wandering performer: the jogi, the bhopa, the travelling bard who carried songs from one village to the next. The infrastructure has changed. The impulse, it seems, has not.

The Rebel Crowd, which calls itself India's Travelling Cultural Network, has announced its next stop: Jodhpur.
Its pitch is broad by design. TRC is looking for musicians, poets, dancers, rappers, theatre artists, visual artists, storytellers and instrumentalists, and says artists "from all creative disciplines" are welcome. The language is deliberately unfussy: "No boundaries. No labels. Just art, people, and stories waiting to be heard."
What we know
City: Jodhpur, Rajasthan
Open to: artists across every creative discipline
Registration: via the link in TRC's Instagram bio
Date and venue: not yet announced
We covered TRC's model when it set up in Jaipur. The idea is a network that moves rather than a festival that stays put: you register, you connect, you collaborate with artists you would not otherwise meet.
A reading
Jodhpur is an interesting choice. It is a city the world knows mostly as a backdrop: weddings, film shoots, the RIFF weekend at Mehrangarh. What TRC is asking, implicitly, is what the city sounds like when it is not performing for visitors.
That question is worth more than a registration form. If you are a Jodhpur artist, or know one who deserves a room, the link is in the bio.
