PUBG Is Getting a Live-Action Netflix Series, and Donald Glover Is Doing Almost Everything

Drop in. Loot. Survive. Now do it on Netflix.

PUBG is getting the live-action treatment. On 29 October 2026, Krafton announced that a live-action PUBG series is in development at Netflix. Quick correction to the rumours flying around: it's a series, not a movie.

The big name: Donald Glover

This is the headline. Donald Glover, the two-time Emmy and Golden Globe winner behind Atlanta and Community, isn't just attached. He's doing almost everything:

• Directing

• Writing

• Executive producing

• Starring

He co-writes with Stephen Glover, who is also an executive producer.

Who else is involved

• Michael Schaefer for NEON TV

• Fam Udeorji for Gilga

• Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee for LV3H, Krafton's entertainment subsidiary

All are executive producers.

What we don't know yet

• The plot

• The rest of the cast

• How many episodes

• When it releases

So, a lot. But with Glover involved, expect something stranger and smarter than a straight action show. This is the guy who made Atlanta one of the weirdest, best shows on TV.

Why this matters in India

PUBG isn't just a game here. It's a generation's memory. College hostels, late-night squads, "bhai, revive kar" over voice chat. After the original mobile game was banned in India in 2020, Krafton came back with Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), and the obsession never really died.

A Netflix series built on that world is going to land very differently in India than anywhere else. There's real nostalgia here.

The video game adaptation moment

Game adaptations are having a moment. Some have been massive, and some, like the Street Fighter movie, have flopped hard. The difference usually comes down to whether the makers understand why people loved the game in the first place.

My take

PUBG doesn't have much story. It has a feeling: 100 strangers, one island, one winner. That's a blank canvas, and Glover is exactly the kind of creator who could turn it into something nobody expects. I'm curious. Very curious.

Winner winner, chicken dinner? Let's see.
