Forget international espionage—James Bond has a new mission, and it involves pulling pints. Daniel Craig has officially added pub owner to his resume, joining the ranks of British celebs who own capital boozers by purchasing The Horseshoe, a historic 250-year-old pub in Clerkenwell, North London.

A Historic Boozer with a Supernatural Resident

Having served locals for two and a half centuries, The Horseshoe is famous for its traditional neighborhood charm, classic darts setups, and a sheltered beer garden. It was previously run by longtime landlords Richard and Pauline Tucker for 36 years before closing its doors.

However, the pub’s future is now secure under the stewardship of 007 himself, alongside a heavy-hitting hospitality crew that includes Soho House owner Nick Jones, Flat Iron and The Devonshire founder Charlie Carroll, and Justin O'Shea.

The new venture comes with a spooky twist. According to former landlady Pauline Tucker, the cellar is haunted by a resident spirit named Gilbert—a former hangman whose presence you can physically feel. Unfazed by the paranormal gossip, Craig joked to The Times that they might need to leave a pint down there for him.

Back to His Roots

For Craig, hospitality is a familiar world. Growing up in a family of publicans, he spent his childhood in his grandparents' pub talking to locals—and later used his solo pub-crawling days to observe people and sharpen his legendary acting skills.

While the building is set to undergo a major renovation—including transforming the upstairs into a restaurant space—Craig has promised patrons that the heart of The Horseshoe will remain a proper British boozer.

The iconic watering hole is scheduled to reopen its doors in late 2027 at 24 Clerkenwell Close. Stay tuned to AltBollywood for more global pop culture and entertainment updates!
