Galaxy S27 Ultra Leaks, Read Like a Creator: What Actually Matters for Your Reels

Let me say this upfront because tech Twitter won't: the Galaxy S27 Ultra does not exist yet. Samsung hasn't announced it. Everything below is leaks and rumours, and some of them will be wrong.

But it's also the phone a lot of Indian creators will be eyeing in 2027. So let's read the leaks the way a creator would. Not "how many megapixels," but "will this make my Reels better?"

The camera, rumoured

  • 200MP main sensor, reportedly Samsung's new ISOCELL HP6

  • 50MP ultrawide with autofocus

  • 50MP 5x telephoto, carried over from the S26 Ultra

  • The separate 3x telephoto is reportedly gone, so three rear cameras instead of four

  • 12MP selfie with autofocus

Why creators should care about each one

The 3x going missing is the big one. If you shoot talking-head content, product close-ups or fashion fits, 3x is the sweet spot for portraits. Losing it means relying on cropping from the 200MP main sensor. That can work, but it's a trade-off, not an upgrade.

The processing changes might matter more than the hardware. Tipster Ice Universe says the S27 Ultra's images will be warmer than earlier Ultras, handle bright highlights better and look smoother in low light. Translation: less "Samsung look," fewer blown-out stage lights at concerts, cleaner night shots. For anyone who shoots events after dark, that's huge.

Video, rumoured

  • 8K at 30fps with 10-bit HDR on the rear cameras

  • 4K at 60fps on all cameras, including the selfie

That second one is the real creator feature. 4K60 on the front camera means vlogs and to-camera content that actually match your main-camera footage. No more "why does my selfie clip look like a different phone?"

Battery, rumoured

5,500mAh, up from the 5,000mAh the Ultra has sat at for years. If you've ever had your phone die halfway through shooting a wedding or a gig, you already know why this matters.

Everything else (also rumoured)

  • Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 for Galaxy

  • 6.9-inch QHD+ display with a Privacy Display mode

  • S Pen still in the box

  • Android 17 / One UI 9, with more Galaxy AI

  • Launch in January or February 2027, with a US starting price rumoured around $1,300

My take

The creator boom in India runs on phones, not cameras. Most of the content you scroll past every day was shot on something in someone's pocket. We've written about how cheap data built India's creator economy and how YouTube became the new TV.

If these leaks hold, the S27 Ultra's pitch to creators won't be "more megapixels." It'll be better nights, better selfies and a battery that lasts the shoot. That's a pitch that actually matches how people work.

But I'll believe it when Samsung puts it on a stage. Until then, keep your S26.
