Mamitha Baiju is back in the search charts, and this time it is for a film she has not officially been announced in.

Reports on 11 October said she has joined Jai Hanuman, Prasanth Varma's sequel to the 2024 hit HanuMan, with Rishab Shetty in the lead and Mythri Movie Makers producing. The same reports said she has already done a cast photoshoot and started shooting. The makers have not confirmed any of it, so file this under strong rumour.

Why would a pan-India superhero film want her? Five numbers from her year answer that better than any casting note.

1. Three ₹200 crore films in one year

Jana Nayagan with Vijay, Vishwanath & Sons with Suriya, and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit with Nivin Pauly have each crossed ₹200 crore worldwide, by trade estimates. That is a rare run for any actor in a single year, and she managed it across two languages.

2. ₹300 crore for a Malayalam love story

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit went past ₹300 crore, which trade figures put at the top of the all-time Malayalam chart. That was an age-gap romance, not an action franchise. It tells producers she can carry the emotional weight of a film, not just decorate it.

3. Four releases in one year

Her 2026 slate covered Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, Kara, Jana Nayagan and Vishwanath & Sons. That is Malayalam and Tamil audiences at the very least, and a lot of dubbed-version viewers on top.

4. Six directors on one film

Her next Tamil project is reportedly being directed by six filmmakers. It is an unusual set-up, and it is the kind of experiment that tends to go to actors audiences already trust.

5. 2024, the year it started

Premalu is where most people outside Kerala first noticed her. It was a small Malayalam romantic comedy that travelled far beyond its home state, and in two years she has gone from that to being reported for one of the biggest franchise films in the country.

What we still do not know

Her role in Jai Hanuman, whether she leads opposite Rishab Shetty or plays a smaller part, and when the film releases are all unconfirmed. Until Mythri Movie Makers or Prasanth Varma says something, the honest answer is that we do not know. We will update this piece when they do.
