Karan Johar is raising the mug one last time. The ninth and final season of Koffee With Karan starts streaming today, and the first person on the couch is someone who spent years avoiding it. Here is what you need to know, with the confirmed facts kept apart from the guesswork.

When and where does Koffee With Karan Season 9 stream?

From 14 October 2026, on JioHotstar, under its Peacock Hub banner. If you are watching from the UK, the US, Canada or elsewhere, check the JioHotstar app in your country first, because availability outside India varies by region.

Is this really the last season?

Yes, according to Karan Johar. He announced on 30 September that Season 9 would be his very last, and his promo made a point of saying he was not acting or pretending. By his own count, the show has run for 22 years, eight seasons and 161 episodes.

Who is the first guest?

Salman Khan. Johar posted a video of the two of them on set, so this one is confirmed. It is Salman's third time on the show, but his first alone. He first came on for the Season 4 premiere in December 2013 with his father, Salim Khan, and returned for the 100th episode in Season 5 with his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail.

For a man who skipped the first three seasons entirely, opening the final one by himself is the booking of the season.

Which other guests are coming?

Nothing beyond Salman has been officially announced. The names doing the rounds include Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda together, Vicky Kaushal, Diljit Dosanjh, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, and Vijay Deverakonda with Rashmika Mandanna. Treat every one of those as a rumour until the episode drops. Johar did say in a promo that there would be no cricketers this time, although it was hard to tell whether he meant it.

Why is Aneet Padda trending?

Because of that rumoured episode with her Saiyaara co-star Ahaan Panday. If it happens, it would be the first time either of them has sat on the couch, and a debut episode in the final season is exactly the kind of moment the show was built on.

Will the format change?

Possibly. Reports suggest this season will widen the guest list beyond Hindi film stars to include actors from South Indian cinema, streaming talent and digital creators. The promo teased that the last Koffee would be very different, then immediately asked whether it really would be. That is classic Karan, so wait for the episodes.

How did the show begin?

Koffee With Karan first aired on 20 November 2004, with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as the opening guests. The first six seasons ran on television before the show moved to streaming with Season 7. Over two decades, the rapid-fire round became the part of the show that produced most of its headlines.

One tip for tonight: watch the Salman episode before the clips do it for you. By tomorrow it will be cut up and reposted everywhere, and the rapid-fire round lands best when you have seen him warm up to it.
