Halloween isn't really a Mumbai tradition. We've got Diwali prep, wedding season and the start of winter (if you can call it that) to worry about. But every year the city picks it up anyway, and this year we're lucky: 31 October falls on a Saturday.

So if you're looking for a reason to dress up as a vampire in 30-degree heat, here's where to go. I've split it into parties, the genuinely spooky stuff, and things for kids.

Quick note: details, prices and line-ups can change, and some events sell out. Check the booking page before you head out.

The big parties

Helloween Festival, Bandra

31 October–1 November · Pioneer Hall & Corona Garden, Bandra

The one I'm most excited about. A 100-year-old heritage bungalow turned into a haunted set, with a rage room, fashion and lifestyle stalls, food and a cosplay competition. Very Bandra, in the best way. Tickets are via Sort My Scene, with sales opening soon at the time of writing.

Zynth Halloween Party, Kamala Mills

31 October, 8 pm onwards · QEY Sip & Vault, Kamala Mills

An audiovisual techno night with Kollision headlining, plus Thugnaari and live guitar and sax, set to AI-generated visuals. From ₹990 on District.

Afterlife: The Night of the Eclipse, Lower Parel

31 October, 10 pm onwards · Luna Et Sol, Lower Parel

Indoor club night with dark set design and themed cocktails. DJs Zal Shroff, Cruz and Jalaj Lamba. From ₹949 on Sort My Scene.

Halloween After Dark, Lower Parel

31 October, 8 pm onwards · Lord of the Drinks, Lower Parel

A six-hour Halloween night for the over-21 crowd. Listed on BookMyShow.

House of Sin, Andheri

30 October, 8 pm onwards · Dragonfly Experience, Andheri/Vile Parle

The Friday warm-up, with dark beats from DJ Lijo. Book by phone through the venue.

Halloween Edition ft. Almost Human, Saki Naka

1 November, 9 pm onwards · Opa Bar and Cafe, Saki Naka

For people who want to keep going into Sunday. From ₹2,000 on BookMyShow.

Halloween Night, Navi Mumbai

31 October, 7 pm onwards · Dusk at The Park, Navi Mumbai

A hotel-venue option if you're on the other side of the harbour. From ₹700.

Actually spooky

Halloween Haunted Midnight Cycling, South Mumbai

30 and 31 October, 10.30 pm–5 am · Starts at Colaba Market

This is the most Mumbai idea on the list, and my favourite. A slow 20 km night ride past 12 heritage sites and buildings with a reputation, including Mukesh Mills and Grand Paradi Towers, with horror stories told at the rest stops. Cycles or Yulu e-bikes are included. Run through Mischief Treks or Mumbai Travel Club, from ₹450 on District.

Riding past Mukesh Mills at 2 am while someone tells you a ghost story is the most Mumbai way to do Halloween.

Tribute to Pink Floyd: Halloween Special, Powai

30 and 31 October · The Finch, Powai

Not scary, but very on-theme. A live tribute with psychedelic and hard rock sets and spooky decor. From ₹1,000 on District.

For kids and families

Zaazaa Halloween, Juhu

30 and 31 October, 3–7 pm · Zaazaa, Juhu

A kids' Halloween event at ₹1,500 for two hours. Costumes encouraged.

IKEA Halloween, Worli and Navi Mumbai

30 and 31 October, from 2 pm · IKEA Worli and IKEA Navi Mumbai

Free family fun built around IKEA's limited-edition KUSTFYR range: costumes, games, face paint, tattoos, a vampire and a witch to meet, Pin the Witch and a store treasure hunt.

Imagicaa, Khopoli

31 October–1 November · Imagicaa

If you're willing to drive out of the city, Imagicaa is running Halloween events across its theme park, water park, snow park and trampoline park. Check its site for timings and tickets.

My pick for the weekend

Friday night: the haunted cycle ride. Saturday: Helloween in Bandra, then Kamala Mills if you've still got energy. Sunday: sleep, honestly.

If you're more of a festival-season person than a Halloween one, the city's been busy lately. We covered one of Bandra's buzziest Diwali singles parties too.
