Every few years, Hindi cinema quietly changes its face. The current shift is being led by a group of young actresses who appear far less interested in safe launches than in range, genre and risk. Between theatrical releases and streaming, their slates are among the most varied in the industry.

Here are five names whose next moves are worth tracking.

Aneet Padda

Having drawn attention with Saiyaara and Hunkkaar: The Roar, Aneet Padda now moves into the Maddock universe with Shakti Shalini. The project is expected to present her in a markedly different avatar, and that promise of reinvention has already generated considerable interest in what is shaping up to be one of the studio's more ambitious releases.

Aafiya Sayed

Aafiya Sayed made her Hindi film debut with the recently released Prem Keetanu and has wasted little time. Her next step is a South Indian film debut in Alias Rukmini, in which she plays Ruku, a lighter, more playful role that should show a different side of her work.

Rasha Thadani

Rasha Thadani heads into darker territory with Laikey Laikaa, an intense romance built around love, pain and trust. She shares the screen with Abhay Verma, and the fresh pairing is a significant part of the film's early appeal. New on-screen pairs have become one of the industry's most dependable talking points, as we noted in our look at Bollywood's fresh on-screen jodis.

Pragati Srivastava

Of the five, Pragati Srivastava may have the busiest start. She debuts with Aanand L Rai's Nakhrewaalii, is set to work with Prakash Jha on a political drama, and is also attached to Jaan Hai Tu Meri under the Maddock Films banner. Three distinct directors and three distinct tones represent an unusually broad opening for a newcomer.

Sara Arjun

Following her work in Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, Sara Arjun is reportedly set to star opposite Ram Charan in RC17. Reports suggest she has been finalised as the leading lady, though an official announcement is still awaited, and the casting should be treated as unconfirmed until then.

A generation that resists predictability

What unites these actresses is not a shared image but a shared approach. Dark romance, political drama, small-town comedy and South Indian cinema all appear on this list. For a generation that grew up with streaming and global content, genre is no longer a box to stay inside.

Which of these new faces are you most keen to see on screen?
