From Ayushmann and Sharvari to Prabhas and Triptii: 6 Fresh On-Screen Pairs to Watch Out For

There's something about a brand-new pairing that gets audiences talking before a single ticket is sold. Will the chemistry work? Will they look right together? Will it become one of those jodis we're still quoting twenty years from now?

The next few months are full of exactly that kind of anticipation. Indian cinema has a run of big releases lined up, and several of them bring together actors who've never shared the screen before. From Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in Ramayana to Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari in Yeh Prem Mol Liya, here are six fresh pairs worth keeping an eye on.

1. Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in Ramayana

Sai Pallavi is stepping into one of the most ambitious projects of her career, playing Goddess Sita in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. It's her first outing opposite Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Ram, and that alone has audiences curious. The trailer has built serious buzz, and the film is slated for a Diwali release this year. We recently looked at how the wedding song finally made them feel like Ram and Sita.

2. Abhay Verma and Rasha Thadani in Laikey Laikaa

Abhay Verma and Rasha Thadani bring a young, fresh energy to Laikey Laikaa. Both have strong screen presence on their own, and that easy, natural vibe makes them a new duo to watch.

3. Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari in Yeh Prem Mol Liya

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari team up for the first time in Sooraj Barjatya's wholesome family entertainer, Yeh Prem Mol Liya. The songs have already offered a warm glimpse into its world of romance, family and togetherness, very much the Barjatya way. The film arrives in cinemas on 27 November.

4. Prabhas and Triptii Dimri in Spirit

After Animal, Triptii Dimri reunites with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for Spirit, this time opposite Prabhas. The first poster is out and frames the new pair in a way that feels thrilling, romantic and edge-of-the-seat all at once. Both are known for commanding the screen individually, so there's real curiosity about what unfolds between them when the film releases on 5 March 2027.

5. Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh in Gunmaaster G9

Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh come together in Gunmaaster G9, one of the most awaited releases on the calendar, with both stars in exciting new avatars. The recently released songs have put their crackling chemistry front and centre, and fans are counting down to its theatrical release on 27 November.

6. Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone in Raaka

Deepika Padukone and Allu Arjun mark their first on-screen collaboration with the fantasy action spectacle Raaka. The Pushpa star's first look has already set the internet on fire, and now everyone's waiting to see Deepika's look and how her equation with Allu Arjun plays out.

Which pair are you most excited for?

Six films, six first-time pairings, and very different flavours: mythology, family drama, youthful romance, gritty action and big-screen fantasy. My money's on at least two of these jodis becoming instant favourites.

Tell us in the comments which pair you're booking tickets for first.
