Drishyam The Conclusion Box Office: Why the Second Weekend Is the Real Story
Openings can be bought. Second weekends cannot.
That is the simplest way to explain why Drishyam The Conclusion is still trending almost two weeks after release. Ajay Devgn's final outing as Vijay Salgaonkar opened at about ₹62 crore net in India on 2 October, which was big. What came after was more interesting: a second Saturday that jumped by more than 80 percent on its Friday, and an India net of about ₹309 crore after ten days. No Ajay Devgn film with him as the lead had ever crossed ₹300 crore net in India before this one.

The run so far
All figures below are India net, rounded, from trade-tracker estimates.
Day 1 (Friday, 2 October, Gandhi Jayanti): about ₹62 crore
Day 2 (Saturday): about ₹53.5 crore
Day 3 (Sunday): about ₹61 crore
Day 4 (Monday): about ₹21 crore
Day 5 (Tuesday): about ₹19.5 crore
Week 1: about ₹245.5 crore
Day 9 (second Saturday): about ₹26.5 crore
Day 10 (second Sunday): about ₹22.5 crore
Total after Day 10: about ₹309 crore
Why the Monday drop does not worry us
On paper, falling from ₹61 crore on Sunday to ₹21 crore on Monday looks steep. But Day 1 was a national holiday, and holiday openings flatter a film. The fairer test is the second weekend, when the holiday crowd is gone and only word of mouth is selling tickets.
That is where Drishyam The Conclusion did its best work. A jump of over 80 percent from the second Friday to the second Saturday is what a film looks like when people are telling their friends to go. Films that run on hype shrink on their second Saturday. Films that run on recommendation grow. Week 1 also cleared one crore footfalls in India, so this is not a story about high ticket prices propping up the numbers.
How far the franchise has come
Film | Opening day, India net | Context |
|---|---|---|
Drishyam (2015) | about ₹5.80 crore | Finished around ₹67 crore lifetime |
Drishyam 2 (2022) | ₹15.38 crore | One of the biggest Hindi hits of 2022 |
Drishyam The Conclusion (2026) | about ₹62 crore | ₹300 crore net in ten days |
The third film opened at more than ten times the first, and its first two days beat the original's entire theatrical run. Most franchises lose audience by the third instalment. This one multiplied it.
Part of the reason is that the Hindi series stopped behaving like a remake. Mohanlal's Malayalam Drishyam 3 reached cinemas in May and became the biggest entry in that series, crossing ₹242 crore worldwide. The Hindi film took a different route, added Jaideep Ahlawat as a crime branch officer, Rajveer Singh Tomar, and sold itself as a definite ending. The 2 October release date did the rest. Anyone who has seen the first film knows what that date means to Vijay's alibi, and the marketing never let you forget it.

The numbers do not all agree, and that is normal
The makers put the worldwide total at ₹452.14 crore after Day 9, with overseas past ₹100 crore. Tracker estimates for the same day were slightly lower, at about ₹446.8 crore worldwide, rising to roughly ₹479.8 crore after Day 10. Producers and trackers measure gross, net and overseas conversion differently, so small gaps are routine. We use tracker figures for India net and label producer figures as producer figures.
What happens next
The ₹500 crore worldwide mark is within touching distance. The harder part starts on Thursday, when Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 arrives and takes screens, especially in the south. Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan's Udta Teer has reportedly moved to 23 October to stay out of Drishyam's way.
Our estimate, and it is only an estimate: if the third weekend holds at around half of the second, Drishyam The Conclusion finishes its India run comfortably above ₹350 crore net.
