Film curation is an art form of its own, and the team behind the Bandra Film Festival has just executed a highly strategic maneuver for their next event. Rather than burying short films in a sprawling, multi-day schedule, they have partnered with Houdini in Lower Parel to deliver a sharp, two-hour cinematic block right into the center of Mumbai's commercial district. Scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, this showcase completely strips away the usual festival exhaustion, operating on a refreshingly uncompromising premise: three shorts, one night, zero filler.

A Study in Narrative Contrast The authority of this specific event lies in its deliberate curation. The lineup relies heavily on tonal and linguistic whiplash, ensuring the audience remains entirely engaged throughout the brief runtime.

Dinkar Sharma’s Hindi-language Court Order appears to anchor the slate with a heavy dose of grounded realism. Driven by promotional artwork that isolates a mother and child with a lone suitcase, it signals a quiet but high-stakes domestic narrative. The programming then immediately shifts gears with Marathi cinema via Mukti Krishan’s Waagh. The aggressively stylized, red-and-black graphic poster—featuring a roaring human-panther hybrid—suggests a massive injection of visceral, untamed energy. The block is ultimately rounded out by Nishi Dugar’s Hindi short Anaar Daana, which pulls back into a more delicate space, utilizing intricate, mosaic-style visual framing that hints at an introspective, character-driven close.

The Blueprint for Modern Exhibition Running on a strict 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM schedule, this is exactly how the modern short film ecosystem needs to operate: as a concentrated cultural experience that respects a post-work urban crowd. By moving away from traditional art-house basements and into a premium space like Houdini, the Bandra Film Festival is successfully elevating the commercial viability of short-form storytelling. Tickets are currently moving on BookMyShow, making this an essential Monday night booking for anyone tracking the actual pulse of Mumbai's independent filmmakers.
