Blade Runner 2099 Release Date: All Eight Episodes Arrive on Prime Video on 25 November
Blade Runner is coming back, and this time you can binge it in one go.
Prime Video's Blade Runner 2099 will release all eight episodes on Wednesday, 25 November. The trailer debuted at New York Comic Con earlier this month, and searches spiked again this weekend as the one-month countdown started.

What it's about
The series is set 50 years after Blade Runner 2049. The official logline says Los Angeles "has been reborn, just not by humanity".
Hunter Schafer plays Cora, a fugitive who, in a last attempt to stop running, takes on one final identity: a Blade Runner. She's forced to work with Olwen, a dying replicant played by Michelle Yeoh, as they hunt a runaway who is hiding a truth that could bring down the city.
A fugitive pretending to be a cop, and a replicant with an expiry date: it's a setup that goes straight at the question the films have always asked, which is who gets to count as human.

Who's making it
Silka Luisa, who made Shining Girls, created the series and is an executive producer. Ridley Scott, who directed the 1982 original, is also an executive producer. Jonathan van Tulleken, a director on Shōgun, directs the first two episodes.
It's all based, ultimately, on Philip K. Dick's 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Do you need to rewatch the films?
Probably not, since the leads are new characters. But if you want the mood, Blade Runner (1982) and Blade Runner 2049 (2017) are available to rent or buy on Prime Video in some regions.
Prime Video hasn't announced a separate date for India. If you're after more big-screen sci-fi news, Red Rising is finally becoming a movie too.
