  • ED Investigates 29 Celebrities Over Betting App Endorsements

Recently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched an investigation into 29 public figures, including actors Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, and Rana Daggubati, over their endorsements of online betting apps. The probe is linked to allegations that these endorsements helped promote platforms involved in money laundering. The case is based on FIRs filed in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Besides actors, several YouTubers and social media influencers, mainly from the Telugu film industry, are also being investigated. Authorities believe that the promotional campaigns misled users, especially financially vulnerable groups, into using betting apps classified under gambling, which is prohibited by law. The complaint came from businessman Phanindra Sarma, who claimed celebrity promotions caused financial distress among app users. In response, Vijay Deverakonda said his endorsement was for a ‘skill-based game’ contract, legally distinct from gambling. Rana Daggubati’s legal team said his association with the app ended in 2017. Prakash Raj stated that his promotional video was reused without consent in 2021, and he objected to it. The investigation is ongoing, with further questioning and financial record examination expected in the coming weeks.

  •  Alia Bhatt's Former Secretary Arrested for ₹76.9 Lakh Fraud: A Shocking Breach of Trust

Shetty is accused of embezzling ₹76 lakh  (approximately $90,000 USD ) from Alia Bhatt and her production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions , through a series of fake invoices and forged transactions  spanning nearly two years. How the Fraud Was Uncovered The case came to light after Alia Bhatt and her mother, Soni Razdan , grew suspicious of a particular invoice submitted by Shetty for an event payment. Upon scrutiny, they discovered that the contact number listed on the invoice belonged not to the vendor, but to Shetty’s personal friend . Alarmed, they conducted a thorough audit of Bhatt's finances, which revealed substantial financial irregularities  and fake documentation. Beyond the glitz of Bollywood, this incident is a glaring reminder of how trusted insiders can exploit access  to personal accounts and sensitive information. It highlights the importance of: Regular internal audits Cross-verification of all payments and vendor details Due diligence before onboarding personal staff

  • Oo Antava Goes Global — But DSP’s Tune Has Changed

In an industry where musical inspiration travels faster than copyright claims, Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) has once again made headlines. This time, not for a new chartbuster, but for publicly alleging that his viral hit Oo Antava  from Pushpa: The Rise  has been copied by a Western artist. At a recent fan event, DSP claimed that an “English” singer had lifted his composition. Though he didn’t specify the name, online speculation quickly pointed toward Turkish pop singer Atiye  and her 2024 single Anlayana , which shares unmistakable rhythmic and melodic similarities with Oo Antava . The composer didn’t rule out legal action and seemed both proud and perturbed by the global reach of his song. But here's where it gets complicated: is this a genuine case of plagiarism—or a classic case of selective outrage? A Short Memory: DSP’s Own Borrowing Habits This isn’t the first time DSP has been caught in a swirl of plagiarism debates. Over the years, many of his songs have drawn inspiration—some would say lifted elements—from Latin pop, Arabic music, Balkan folk, and even Western EDM. His musical catalogue is rich, no doubt, but originality has often taken a back seat to remix culture and marketable fusion. Oo Antava  itself was hailed more for its bold visual storytelling than for musical innovation. The composition leaned heavily on globalized sounds—club beats, minor key seduction, layered with regional lyrics and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s magnetic screen presence. So when DSP now claims that the West has stolen from him, it raises an uncomfortable but important question: where does inspiration end and imitation begin? And more critically—why does DSP draw the line only when he  is the one being “copied”? Double Standards in the Industry What DSP is doing isn’t unusual—many Indian composers have walked the same path. Borrow globally, repackage locally, and defend your “creativity” until the tables turn. When the West borrows from India, it’s “theft.” But when Indian artists borrow from the West, it’s “homage” or “global influence.” This double standard reveals a deeper issue within the industry: an unwillingness to admit that musical cross-pollination is a two-way street. If we want Indian music to be respected globally, the industry must also start respecting originality at home—and acknowledging when it plays fast and loose with source material. What Happens Now? If DSP pursues legal action, he may very well be within his rights—if the similarities are legally substantial. But the bigger conversation isn’t about one track; it’s about how the Indian music scene treats ownership, influence, and fairness. There’s no doubt DSP is talented. But this moment demands more than defensiveness—it demands introspection. Because in the global music arena, credibility isn’t just built on hit numbers; it’s built on consistency, transparency, and owning your own game.

  • Rajkummar Rao Joins Hands with MR.DIY: A Brand Ambassador Who Truly Represents “SabKuch” India Wants

In a move that’s equal parts strategic and star-powered, MR.DIY , India’s fastest-growing home improvement and lifestyle retail brand, has announced acclaimed Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao  as its official brand ambassador. The announcement comes hand-in-hand with a quirky, pan-India campaign built on the slogan:  “Milega Kya, Mat Pooch – MR.DIY Has SABKUCH.”  And yes, it’s exactly as fun—and smart—as it sounds.  From Shelves to Screens: MR.DIY 's Everyday Wonderland For the uninitiated, MR.DIY isn’t just another lifestyle store. It’s a 15,000+ SKU  powerhouse spread across 10 essential categories , covering everything from hardware to homeware, toys to tech accessories—all under one roof. Operating in over 110 cities  across India and growing rapidly, the brand has positioned itself not just as a retailer, but as a discovery space. It’s the place you walk into for one thing and leave with five, each useful, surprising, and often shockingly affordable (some items priced as low as ₹19). In short, it’s a world built for the modern Indian consumer—value-driven, spontaneous, and practical.  The Campaign: Humor Meets Daily Hustle The newly launched campaign features Rajkummar Rao as a witty, on-ground reporter who stumbles into a MR.DIY store and finds himself overwhelmed by its vast offerings. He’s confused, surprised, even delighted. That’s the emotion MR.DIY is banking on: “Don’t ask what you’ll find. Just walk in.” The content is laced with gentle satire, the kind that nudges you to look at your own lifestyle and realize—wait, maybe I do  need that quirky screwdriver set or that minimalist wall clock. Through Rao’s persona, the campaign delivers relatability without condescension.  Why Rajkummar Rao? Because India Relates to Him According to MR.DIY ’s brand leadership, the decision to bring on Rajkummar Rao was rooted in more than celebrity clout. “He embodies the essence of our brand—genuine, versatile, and deeply connected with the everyday Indian,” they said in a statement. And they’re not wrong. Rao’s cinematic journey has mirrored the aspirations of millions—from small-town realism to urban complexity, always with grace and grit. He is the kind of celebrity who doesn’t live in ivory towers. Instead, he walks the aisles we all walk, asks the same questions, and laughs at the same price tags.  Rajkummar Rao’s Take: “It’s a Wonderland.” In his own words, Rao called MR.DIY “a wonderland of unexpected delights.”  His enthusiasm doesn’t feel paid-for—it feels like genuine amusement at a store where you go in for a light bulb and come out with yoga mats, face towels, mini tool kits, a wall hook shaped like a panda, and maybe a gift bag for your aunt’s birthday.  The Bigger Picture: India’s Retail Revolution This collaboration isn’t just about marketing. It reflects the broader shift in Indian consumer behavior: an increased appreciation for smart spending, multi-functionality, and everyday joy . Brands like MR.DIY are winning because they don’t just sell products—they sell the experience of discovery , something e-commerce often fails to replicate. With this campaign and Rao at the helm, MR.DIY isn’t just selling stuff. It’s building a culture of casual, conscious consumption.
