Before he was directing Gudhal, Yuvraaj Parashar was in front of the camera. The Agra-born actor, filmmaker, writer and producer began his career as a model before making the jump into Hindi cinema, and that path has shaped the kind of storyteller he has become.

From modelling to acting

Parashar built his acting resume across a mix of films, including Fashion, The Past, Moksh to Maya and Lights Camera Murder. It is not the filmography of someone chasing a single kind of role. Instead, it reads like an actor gathering range before deciding what story he actually wanted to tell as a director.

Bahaar and the turn towards directing

That story turned out to be deeply personal. Parashar's short film Bahaar won recognition at 14 international festivals, establishing him as a filmmaker with a clear voice long before Gudhal was announced. It is the kind of track record that explains why a debut feature about the hidden realities of old age homes feels less like a gamble and more like a natural next step.

Gudhal as a culmination

With Gudhal, Parashar takes on writing, directing and producing duties simultaneously, working with a cast that includes Mona Ambegaonkar, Shahbaz Khan, Pooja Singh, Sunita Rajwar and Sudha Chandran, and a title track voiced by Javed Ali. It is his biggest creative undertaking to date, and one built around a subject he clearly cares about: the gap between what old age homes promise and what actually happens once families walk away.

Parashar has also continued acting through this period, most recently appearing in Launda Naach, which premiered in the National Competition section of the Mumbai International Film Festival. Between that and Gudhal, 2026 is shaping up to be the year Yuvraaj Parashar stops being a name you half-recognise and becomes one you watch for.
