The first Monday of May never fails to deliver high-fashion hysteria, but this year's Met Gala carpet served up a massive dose of déjà vu for those of us tracking the aesthetic zeitgeist here in Mumbai. When Isha Ambani arrived at the 2026 Met Gala, she practically floated onto the carpet in a jaw-dropping custom handwoven sari by couturier Gaurav Gupta. It was a maximalist, structural dream featuring a stunning drape that transformed the garment into a living, sculptural art form.

It was brilliant. It was breathtaking. And it was exactly what we manifested two months ago.

Take a look at the cover of our March 2026 AltBollywood Zine, and you will immediately see the vision. We crowned Sai Pallavi the "#1 Most Papptastic GenZ Sita," wrapping her in a creamy, hyper-structural drape completely dominated by blooming, 3D floral architecture. The regal, nature-inspired energy of our AI-native cover practically acted as a mood board for the Met Gala before the A-list fittings even began. We always knew our Desi Kitsch and high-fashion editorial aesthetics were ahead of the curve, but seeing it play out on fashion's biggest night? That is just good data.

But while we were busy patting ourselves on the back for predicting the Met Gala's vibe, a completely different PAPP Culture tragedy was unfolding behind the scenes.

Our Editor-in-Chief, Kenneth, noticed that internet sensation Orry was attending pre-party and the Met Gala weekend with Isha Ambani. Knowing a golden opportunity when he sees one, Kenneth immediately fired off a WhatsApp message to our favorite insider, "One And Orry!".

Here is exactly how the fumble went down:

  • The Pitch: Kenneth fired off a text asking, "SuperOrry!!! Send me some MET gala exclusive for my Alt."

  • The Bait: Orry replied instantly at 8:04 PM, dropping a red heart and asking, "What shud I send u".

  • The Setup: Kenneth went for the modern holy grail: "BTS selfie videos would be perfect".

  • The Betrayal: Silence. Just ten minutes later, Orry went rogue and uploaded the exact BTS selfie video to his own timeline, completely bypassing our exclusive drop.

At least we have the ultimate bragging rights. When it comes to defining the visual language of Indian entertainment, AltBollywood is already living in the future. Better luck next time, Orry. Update: Orry did share something exclusive. Check it out here.
