Renowned artist Sangeeta Babani has recently debuted her latest public art initiative, "Solar in Full Bloom," at the Juhu Garden junction in Mumbai. The project, created in partnership with the BMC's H-West Ward, was officially inaugurated by IT and Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar and veteran actor Anupam Kher. The event was also attended by Ward 97 Corporator Hetal Gala and Avaada Group's Sindoor Mittal.
Transforming the City into a Canvas
Born in Spain, Babani is celebrated for bringing art out of traditional galleries and into the everyday lives of the public. Over the years, she has used Mumbai’s streets, flyovers, and bustling junctions as her canvas. Her murals and sculptures have become familiar, beautifying landmarks for thousands of daily commuters and visitors.

The Intersection of Art and Clean Energy
"Solar in Full Bloom" is designed to celebrate the harmony between nature and renewable energy. The installation features eight distinct sculptures:
Four Solar Trees: Structures mimicking tree forms that are integrated with functional solar panels.
Four Solar Flowers: Sculptures featuring petal-shaped solar panels inspired by blooming flora.
Together, these pieces merge environmental sustainability with public aesthetics, standing as a visual testament to a greener future.
Voices from the Inauguration
Anupam Kher, reflecting on his long history of living across various neighborhoods in the area, highlighted the deeper emotional impact of public art:
"Beautification is needed not only for eyes but for the soul also. We live in times when our soul needs to feel good too, and that's a beautiful way to do it with an installation like this."
Ashish Shelar emphasized the power of community collaboration in elevating the city's charm:
"Mumbai is beautiful in itself, but it takes the efforts of its people to make it even more beautiful... This is a collective effort of citizens, authorities, curators, and creative minds."
Sangeeta Babani shared her vision behind the sun-powered creations, noting how fulfilling it is to place living, breathing concepts in the heart of a bustling urban space:
"I hope when commuters look up at these solar trees and blooming panels, they don’t just see art, they see a gentle, beautiful reminder of a sustainable future growing right in the heart of our city."
