Ramayana Box Office Collection Day 4: Ranbir Kapoor's Epic Races Past ₹180 Crore as Diwali Sunday Begins
Box office trackers have been busy since morning, so here's everything, in one place.
Ramayana: Part 1 has had a monster opening weekend, and Sunday, which is also Diwali, started even stronger than Saturday.

Ramayana box office: day by day
These are Sacnilk's India net figures, all languages:
Day 1 (Thursday, 5 November): ₹64.85 crore
Day 2 (Friday, 6 November): ₹48.05 crore
Day 3 (Saturday, 7 November): ₹69.80 crore
Day 4 (Sunday, 8 November): early figures below
Total after 3 days: ₹182.70 crore net (₹218.25 crore gross)
Quick note: trackers don't always agree. Bollywood Hungama puts Saturday at ₹67.80 crore, a little under Sacnilk's number. That's normal. Treat everything here as estimates, not official figures from the makers.
Day 4: the Sunday jump
By 12 noon on Sunday, Bollywood Hungama reported ₹25.29 crore. That's 42% ahead of Saturday at the same time, and 24% ahead of the opening day.
Advance booking had already hinted at this. Before the day began, Sunday had sold 11.87 lakh tickets worth ₹34.95 crore, with 3D shows bringing in ₹20.2 crore of that.
So why am I not calling a ₹90 crore Sunday yet? One word: Diwali.
The Diwali twist
Today is Lakshmi Puja. Evening is when families are at home doing puja, bursting crackers and eating too much mithai. Bollywood Hungama itself warned that evening shows could take a hit.
So Day 4 may end up as a strange shape: a huge morning and afternoon, then a dip at night. Don't be surprised if the final number looks lower than the noon trend suggests. It won't mean the film is slowing down. It'll mean India was busy lighting diyas.
Where the money is coming from
The Hindi version is doing the heavy lifting, but the South is showing up too. Sacnilk's three-day split:
Hindi: ₹136 crore
Kannada: ₹18.70 crore
Telugu: ₹16.75 crore
Tamil: ₹6.60 crore
Malayalam: ₹4.65 crore
Kannada beating Telugu is the stat I keep staring at. Yash effect? Almost certainly part of it. On Sunday, Bollywood Hungama says Karnataka and Maharashtra were the top two states, with Bengaluru ahead of Mumbai.
Worldwide and overseas
Sacnilk estimates ₹157.25 crore gross overseas and ₹375.50 crore gross worldwide after three days.
In North America, the film, released there as Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, made about $2.4 million on Friday from 1,433 locations, with trade reports projecting around $7.3 million for the weekend.
My take
I caught this at the press show, so these numbers feel a little personal. A Saturday bigger than the opening day is the clearest sign of word of mouth there is.
The real test starts Monday. Diwali week holidays will keep numbers high, but the second weekend is where we'll know if this is a blockbuster or a phenomenon.
