In an age where many are quick to embrace modern lifestyles, Raj Kundra is choosing to stay deeply rooted in his Punjabi culture. The Mehar actor recently opened up about his childhood memories, family values, and why speaking Punjabi at home remains a strict rule even today.

Growing Up Punjabi: Vacations in Ludhiana, Not Disneyland
Unlike his friends who often vacationed abroad, Raj Kundra’s family chose Ludhiana as their yearly getaway. He recalls, “Some of our childhood friends would talk about Disneyland, and we’d talk about vacationing in Ludhiana! But that’s what kept us grounded.”
This simple yet meaningful choice, according to Raj, instilled in him a strong cultural foundation. For him, Ludhiana wasn’t just a vacation spot – it was a reminder of his roots, language, and traditions.

Punjabi at Home, English Outside
Raj further revealed that his household has always followed one unshakable rule: Punjabi must be spoken at home. He explains, “English can be spoken outside, but inside the house, we keep our language alive.” This practice, he says, has been crucial in preserving identity across generations.
He also pointed out how Indian families abroad, especially in the UK and Canada, often ensure their kids grow up with desi values despite living in a modern environment. That balance, he feels, is essential.
Connected to Sikh Traditions: Wearing the Dastaar
Taking his cultural bond one step further, Raj Kundra recently started wearing the traditional Punjabi turban (dastaar). For him, it’s not just about appearance, but about respect, faith, and values of Sikhism.

Raj Kundra’s Upcoming Film Mehar
