What The Play Is About

The story is narrated by Manoj, a class 9 student at a school that functions more like a training ground for local goons, who hero worships a neighbourhood strongman everyone calls Pintu Bhaiya. Pintu is exactly the kind of feared, larger than life figure a kid like Manoj would look up to, except the play's real hook is what happens when this same tough guy falls hopelessly, helplessly in love. Manoj ends up as the reluctant go between in Pintu's doomed romance, and the story follows what that does to both of them, told with enough humour and warmth that it earns its laughs before it earns its heartbreak.

The Team Behind It

Nihal Parashar wrote and directs the play, drawing directly from his own childhood memories of growing up in Patna, which is exactly why the details feel lived in rather than researched. It is performed entirely solo by Ghanshyam Lalsa, who plays Manoj and slips in and out of every other character in the story without a costume change or a scene partner. Kumud Mishra produces the show through his theatre group D For Drama, with music by Harpreet rounding out the production.
