Maharashtra Open 2026: A Visionary Push for India’s Fastest Growing Sport

The Pickleball Maharashtra Open 2026, held from May 1st to 3rd at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai, has marked a significant milestone for the local sports community. Organised by the Maharashtra Pickleball Association, the tournament is designed to foster a culture of fitness and elevate Maharashtra's standing in the national sports arena.  

Leadership Driving the Momentum

The event’s success is anchored by a collaborative effort between sports administration and public leadership:

• Rahool Kanal (Rahul Narain Kanal): As the President of the Maharashtra Pickleball Association, Kanal has been a central figure in organizing and promoting the tournament. He emphasized the fundamental role of high-quality nutrition for athlete performance, securing key partnerships to enhance the event's professional standards.  

  

• Advocate Ashish Shelar: A senior BJP leader and Maharashtra's Minister for Information Technology and Cultural Affairs, Shelar’s involvement brings a wealth of sports administration experience. Having previously served as the president of the Mumbai Cricket Association and a treasurer for the BCCI, his support underscores the government’s commitment to emerging athletic disciplines.  

  

• Seema Singh: A prominent public figure and member of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Singh has been a consistent advocate for women’s empowerment through sports. Her presence at the tournament highlights its broad appeal across entertainment and political spheres.

The tournament was not only a test of athletic skill but also a cultural showcase. This visual blend reinforces the tournament’s mission to integrate modern sporting growth with the state's rich heritage.
