The wave of acclaim for Cocktail 2 shows no signs of slowing down, with both audiences and industry insiders heavily praising Kriti Sanon’s standout performance as Ally. While viewers are captivated by her striking screen presence and nuanced acting, Sanon admits that the ultimate validation has been hearing that she completely disappeared into the role.
For Sanon, the most rewarding feedback came from those closest to her—her team at her skincare brand, Hyphen. Despite knowing her personal quirks inside out, they confessed they couldn't find "Kriti" anywhere on screen.
"They told me, 'When we watched the movie, we didn't see Kriti Sanon at all. This wasn't you.' Coming from people who interact with me daily, hearing that I completely transformed really feels special," the actress shared.
A Full-Circle Moment with Her Mentors
The praise got even more emotional when it came from filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala and director Sabir Khan—the duo who launched her over twelve years ago in Heropanti. Both sent her deeply personal, lengthy messages commending her growth. Reflecting on her evolution since her 2014 debut, Sanon noted: "They saw me at the very beginning. For them to see me now, 12 years into this journey, playing a character like Ally... it's emotional. Back during Heropanti, I was just a baby who knew absolutely nothing and had to learn everything on set. The only thing that hasn't changed is my curiosity; I asked a million questions back then, and I still do today."
Balancing Glamour and Depth
What makes the success of Cocktail 2 sweet for Sanon is that it strikes the perfect balance between high fashion and heavy acting. "Fortunately, it’s a mix of both performance and glamour," Sanon explained. "I think that’s what every actor craves. Ally is a highly glamorous character, but she also has distinct layers, spunk, and deep emotional vulnerability all packaged into one. I just got really lucky." With Ally cemented as one of the year’s most talked-about cinematic characters, Sanon continues to prove her incredible range, seamlessly blending charm, depth, and effortless star power.
