Actress Kashika Kapoor is stepping into uncharted territory with her upcoming Telugu project, Caste, a gripping horror-comedy with a powerful social message. The film's newly released teaser introduces Kapoor as Gayathri, showcasing a striking departure from her previous on-screen personas.

Describing Gayathri as a multi-layered character balancing deep emotion and seriousness, Kapoor shared a glimpse into the role. "I also get possessed at some point in the film," she revealed, highlighting the sheer versatility demanded by the part.

Stepping into this role required a rigorous physical overhaul. Kapoor gained six kilograms in just two and a half weeks to match the character's look, balancing this intense weight fluctuation with commitments to other projects. "It’s not easy because you’re maintaining different looks for different films at the same time. But I had to transform to do justice to the character," she noted.

Beyond the thrills of a horror-comedy, Caste draws heavily from real-world societal structures and constitutional frameworks. The narrative explores equality, discrimination, and how deep-rooted social constructs continue to shape modern lives and identities. Kapoor praised the project for its raw, grounded approach that avoids preachiness, allowing audiences to absorb the story naturally.

For Kapoor, signing onto the film was a deliberate step toward meaningful cinema. "As an actor, I felt a responsibility to be part of something that sparks conversation and awareness," she explained. Believing that growth requires stepping out of one's comfort zone, she added, "You cannot play it safe if you want to grow as an actor."

With Caste, Kashika Kapoor is poised to deliver a high-impact performance that promises to turn heads and shift perspectives.
