Every November, Goa swaps beach shacks for screening halls. Okay, not swaps. Adds.

The 57th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is back from 20 to 28 November 2026, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has already started the countdown, promising stories from across the world and "a blockbuster makeover" for Goa.

The basics

  • Edition: 57th

  • Dates: 20 to 28 November 2026

  • Where: Goa

  • Passes: delegate registration via the festival's official MyIFFI portal

What's new this year

At an early planning meeting chaired by Union Minister of State Dr L. Murugan, the government laid out a few priorities for this edition:

  • More room for newcomers: more opportunities for students, emerging filmmakers and the "unsung heroes" of Indian film.

  • Masterclasses and mentorship: expanded sessions and structured interactions with established filmmakers.

  • Global reach: more international films and creative talent coming to India.

  • Showcasing Indian cinema: highlighting the range and strength of films from across the country.

That last one matters. IFFI has a habit of discovering films before the rest of the country catches on. Last year's Indian Panorama included Gondhal, which went on to become India's Oscar entry. We covered its journey to the Academy.

How to get a delegate pass

Based on how registration worked last year:

  • Register on the MyIFFI portal on the official IFFI website and choose the Delegate option.

  • Categories have included Film Professionals, Cine Enthusiasts and Students.

  • In 2025, professional and enthusiast passes cost ₹1,180 including GST, and student passes had no fee. Check the official site for 2026 prices.

  • You pay only after you're confirmed as a delegate.

  • Passes are non-transferable and non-refundable.

  • Delegates book screenings through the festival's app.

  • Opening and closing ceremonies are invite-only, so a delegate pass won't get you in.

Tips if you're going

  • Register early. Popular screenings fill fast.

  • Book flights and stays now. Late November is peak season in Goa.

  • Plan around the panels. Some of the best moments at IFFI happen in masterclasses, not theatres.

  • Leave space for surprises. Pick a few films you know nothing about. That's where festival magic lives.

If you love cinema and you've never done IFFI, this is your year. See you in Panjim.
