True commitment to a community doesn't happen on a convenient schedule. For Seema Singh, founder of the self-funded MeghaShrey NGO, World Environment Day wasn't just an occasion for public statements — it was an active, city-wide sprint to drive tangible change.

While many marked the occasion online, Singh's schedule on June 5th was a testament to the on-the-ground hustle she is known for, spanning from early morning grassroots work to high-profile environmental advocacy by dusk.

The Environment Day Schedule

6:30 AM: Dawn in Borivali

Long before the city hit its daily rush hour, Singh was already on the ground in Borivali. Kicking off her day at 6:30 AM, she engaged directly with the community, setting the tone for a day rooted in service rather than ceremony. This early-hour dedication perfectly mirrors her hands-on approach to MeghaShrey's massive annual monsoon relief drives, where immediate local needs take absolute precedence over optics.

Midday: Sustaining the Mission

By the afternoon, Singh was moving across the city to manage her broader humanitarian portfolio. As the driving force behind an NGO that operates entirely without external donations, her daily operations require constant navigation. Whether she is coordinating health and vocational programs that promote women’s self-reliance or supporting clean energy shifts like the "Grace Drive the Future" e-rickshaw project, her midday hours reflect the quiet, demanding logistics required to keep large-scale empowerment initiatives running smoothly.

Evening: Leading the Bhamla Foundation Cyclothon

As the day transitioned into evening, Singh brought her energy to the Bhamla Foundation’s World Environment Day events. Standing alongside figures like Sachiin J Joshi, Shaan, Shehnaaz Gill, and Rupali Ganguly, she flagged off the environmental awareness cyclothon and championed the collaborative tree plantation drive under the #NowForClimate campaign. Her active presence helped emphasize the message that restoring Mumbai's ecological balance is a collective, immediate responsibility.

A Global Vision for Local Roots

Singh's relentless schedule is just a micro-view of a much larger mission. Her environmental advocacy is a year-round commitment, highly visible in campaigns like "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam," which pushes for consistent, large-scale greening across the country.

What makes Singh’s work particularly unique is her ability to bridge local grassroots service with international visibility. Recently, she carried the ethos of Indian craftsmanship and sustainability to the global stage, walking the Cannes Film Festival red carpet specifically to showcase and elevate the work of indigenous Indian artisans.

For Seema Singh, the work doesn't stop when the cameras turn off or when a designated awareness day ends. Whether she's in Borivali at sunrise, supporting women's vocational training at noon, or leading a cyclothon at night, her formula remains the exact same: entirely self-funded, fiercely community-focused, and relentlessly active.
