The Bhamla Foundation, led by founder Asif Bhamla and co-director Saher Bhamla, hosted a vibrant and impactful Children’s Day celebration on November 14, 2025, uniting school children, Bollywood celebrities, community leaders, and environmental advocates under one meaningful theme celebrating children while strengthening ecological responsibility.

Theme: “For the Love of Earth Children’s Day Green Planet”

This year’s theme, “For the Love of Earth – Children’s Day Green Planet,” marked a continued shift in the Foundation’s approach to youth engagement. At the heart of the event was the inspiring initiative “Har Bachcha Eco Champ,” which encouraged every child to take pride in being a guardian of the planet. The celebration blended fun, learning, performances, and interactive moments with environmental messages that children could carry back into their daily lives.
Ashish Shelar Adds Leadership and Gravitas to the Celebration

One of the most notable presences at the event was Ashish Shelar, a respected Indian politician, lawyer, and sports administrator. Shelar currently serves as the Cabinet Minister for Information Technology and Cultural Affairs in the Government of Maharashtra, and he represents the Bandra West constituency in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
His presence added significant weight to the day’s message. Shelar has long been associated with youth development, cultural outreach, and community building, making his participation particularly meaningful. He interacted with the children, encouraged them to lead with curiosity and responsibility, and reinforced that environmental consciousness is not limited to classrooms but is part of nation-building.
His words and engagement reflected how governance, culture, and environmental activism can work in tandem to empower the next generation.
Dr. Cheryl Misquitta Brings Community Warmth and Support
Also adding heart to the event was Dr. Cheryl Misquitta from the Bandra Gymkhana community, whose presence brought a deeply local, community-centric touch to the celebration. Known for her active role in cultural and social initiatives, Dr. Misquitta spent time with the children, offering encouragement and embodying the spirit of community involvement that the Bhamla Foundation has championed for decades.
Her participation reflected the strong roots the Foundation has built within the Bandra community, reinforcing the belief that environmental education grows most powerfully through neighbourhood involvement and shared responsibility.
A Star-Studded Celebration of Childhood and Consciousness
The Children’s Day event also welcomed a lively and diverse lineup of Bollywood personalities, each of whom brought their own charm and support to the cause. Attendees included:
Varun Sharma
Daisy Shah
Mannara Chopra
Akriti Kakar
Anushka Ranjan
Kushal Tandon
Shama Sikander
Sahil Salathia
And several others
They interacted warmly with the children, participated in activities, encouraged them to dream bigger, and echoed the message of becoming Eco Champs.

The Bhamla Foundation: A Growing Legacy of Change
What began in 1997 as a humble cultural movement called “I Love Bandra” has grown into a nationwide force for social and environmental impact. Today, the Bhamla Foundation operates with the energy of more than 10,000 volunteers across India, making it one of the most active and respected community-driven NGOs in the country.
Its work spans:
Health and wellness awareness
Child rehabilitation
Women empowerment
Environmental protection (its strongest and most recognised pillar)
Environmental Advocacy and National Reach
Under Asif and Saher Bhamla’s guidance, the Foundation has launched several widely acclaimed environmental campaigns, including:
eatPlasticPollution Campaign
Featuring Ajay Devgn and Sharvari Wagh, and directed by Imtiaz Ali, this campaign highlighted the invisible ways humans contribute to plastic pollution.
#BomiNamaskar Initiative
In collaboration with Godrej Industries Group, this campaign drove land restoration awareness, resulting in:
10,000 tree plantations across schools
A massive Green Cyclothon with 800+ participants
Other Signature Campaigns
Each of these has successfully mobilized youth, celebrities, schools, and everyday citizens.
A Celebration With Purpose
What sets the Bhamla Foundation’s Children's Day celebration apart is its commitment to pairing joy with responsibility. The “Eco Champ” idea transformed each child from a spectator into an active participant in environmental protection. This identity shift is the Foundation’s most powerful accomplishment.
Looking Toward a Greener Future
The success of Children’s Day 2025 reflects the Foundation’s broader vision to build a culture where sustainability is a shared value across generations. With leaders like Ashish Shelar, community anchors like Dr. Cheryl Misquitta, and the unwavering passion of Asif and Saher Bhamla, the movement toward a greener India continues to gather momentum.
The event was a reminder that when communities, leaders, and children come together with purpose, the future looks brighter, cleaner, and more hopeful.
