A Powerful Film with a Purpose

Tanvi The Great tells the inspiring story of a 21-year-old autistic woman who dreams of saluting the Indian flag at Siachen Glacier — a tribute to her late army father. Led by newcomer Shubhangi Dutt, and supported by a stellar cast including Kher, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, and others, the film is being praised for its sensitive portrayal of neurodivergence and its strong emotional core.

Having already premiered at Cannes 2025 and London’s Riverside Studios, the Mumbai screening served as a more personal affair — a chance for Anupam Kher to bring the film back to its roots. The premiere garnered strong reactions from attendees, many of whom were visibly moved by the film’s message.

Asif Bhamla’s presence, along with that of Ashish Shelar and other notable figures, underlined the film’s broader social relevance. Known for his advocacy around inclusion, environment, and public health, Bhamla’s support for a story like Tanvi The Great highlights the growing intersection between cinema and social change.

The gathering wasn’t just a celebration of a film — it was a reminder that stories with heart and purpose can still take center stage in today’s cinematic landscape.

Tanvi The Great is currently running in theatres across India and is expected to release digitally in the coming months.
