The Insider Interview

The "One Day" Era & Rubbing Shoulders with Legends

Anusmriti shared screen space with the iconic Anupam Kher in One Day: Justice Delivered. Naturally, we had to ask: Was it intimidating? Was it a masterclass? Here’s what she told us.

Q: You shared screen space with Anupam Kher in One Day: Justice Delivered. What was your experience like?

Anusmriti: "I didn’t get a lot of personal time to interact with Anupam sir because the schedule was tight and he was always focused on the scenes. But just being around him was like attending an acting workshop silently. I kept observing how effortless and disciplined he is. Even those small moments taught me a lot about what it means to be a true performer. He was always deeply into his character. Seeing that level of discipline made me realise what it takes to sustain a career for decades."

Q: How was the set dynamic with Esha Gupta and Anupam Kher?

Anusmriti: "They both have very different energies. I got to interact more with Esha on set, and she’s very confident and focused. With Anupam sir, I mostly learned by watching him perform. Even if I didn’t get to talk much, his presence itself was a big lesson for me."

Q: One Day was a serious ensemble project. What were your most impactful moments while shooting it?

Anusmriti: "The most impactful moments were when I watched the senior actors perform and realised how discipline builds a performance. That film was not about just learning lines; it was about understanding the weight behind every moment. It shaped me professionally."

Q: What does being part of this film mean for your career?

Anusmriti: "It’s one of the foundations of my career. It taught me the value of strong scripts and strong co-actors. It reminded me that acting isn’t just about being seen—it’s about being remembered for honesty in your performance."

South Cinema Supremacy & The Brahmanandam Effect

If you’re a fan of Telugu cinema, you know Brahmanandam is the GOAT. Anusmriti has worked with him twice, and her experience is pure wholesome content.

Q: You’ve done two films with Brahmanandam garu. How is he on set?

Anusmriti: "Brahmanandam sir is a complete master of timing. Even when he’s silent on set, he’s observing everything... He is so simple and respectful in real life—that’s what makes him even greater. Despite being such a legend, he never makes you feel small. He sits with the whole team, eats with everyone, and laughs with new actors the same way he does with senior ones. Talent makes you famous, but humility keeps you respected."

Q: You worked with South actor Ajay. Did your cultural backgrounds bring different acting styles to the table?

Anusmriti: "Yes, definitely. I come from a Bengali background, and he has a strong South style... But instead of clashing, it actually helped us complement each other. He has a very technical clarity—camera angles, reaction speed—while Bengali actors focus deeply on the emotional truth. When these two meet, the scene becomes both real and cinematic."

Breaking Stereotypes & Future Plans

We all know Krushna Abhishek for his insane comic timing on TV, but Anusmriti saw a totally different side of him in O Pushpa I Hate Tears. Plus, she dropped hints about what she’s manifesting next!

Q: Krushna Abhishek surprised everyone in O Pushpa I Hate Tears. What impressed you most about his skills?

Anusmriti: "Krushna has incredible range. People know him for comedy, but he works very hard to break that image. On set, he was extremely focused, emotional, and very involved... What impressed me most is his unpredictability—he can shift from humour to intense drama instantly. There were moments when I forgot I was working with the Krushna we see on TV."

Q: Your choices are very diverse. What’s the one thing that makes you choose a script now?

Anusmriti: "Emotion. If I feel something strongly after reading it—whether it’s comedy, thriller, or drama—I say yes. If the character has truth, I want to play it."

Q: You’re in talks for exciting upcoming projects. Can you share something?

Anusmriti: "All I can say is I’m keeping myself very busy and blessed (laughs). I have four projects lined up, including some big names... I’m also exploring more dancing projects because I love Punjabi music and have worked in Punjabi songs before. I will share more very soon, but I promise it’s worth the wait."
